Hi, I'm Erica. I am a 16 year high school student currently living in Toronto, Canada with my family. I am an aspiring journalist, though I also enjoy working in the field of website design and programming.
I have always been very serious about my education. I'm persistant in my work at school because it's my goal to get into university for journalism. If getting good grades gives me a better chance at that goal, I will work towards it. I've always been very focused on my school work, though, and it's not something I am ashamed of. I'm proud to say I'm an Honour Roll student and I hope to keep it that way throughout high school.
Outside of school, however, I have tons of hobbies. Web design (obviously) has been a passion of mine for quite a while. I always enjoy learning and furthering my knowledge in coding languages such as XHTML, CSS and most recently, PHP. I know that if journalism doesn't work out in my future, web design will always be an alternative route.
In lieu of my passion for designing webpages, I decided to open up my own site. In the past I've had many other websites that I eventually forgot about or had no time to maintain. I decided to open EricaFTW in December 2008, over the Christmas holidays out of sheer boredom. Thus far, the site has had three versions and I am looking to update the site on a regular basis. The main purpose for this site is to have a space to display my work for possible opportunities in the future.
My other hobbies include playing guitar (even though I'm not that great), reading books and just surfing the net. I pretty much do exactly what any other typical teenage girl would do on her spare time.
Overall I would say I am an easygoing and generally nice person. I am full of passion and perserverance, and I hope that such qualities will help me succeed in life.
